If you’re contributing to the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) you can top up your benefits in two ways – additional pension contributions (APCs) and additional voluntary contributions (AVCs).

The contributions you make to the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) are tax free up to certain limits.

When and how we pay your pension
We pay your annual pension in twelve monthly instalments. We pay directly into your bank account on our pension pay day:

Annual pension is paid in twelve monthly instalments

On the last banking day of each month.
- Some pensions are paid at the beginning or middle of the month
Check if you have any pension with GMPF
We can check if you have a pension with Greater Manchester Pension Fund (GMPF) if you are unsure or have lost touch with us:
- Due to your age when you began work
- You were in a different pension scheme
- You were a manual / part time worker
- Or Check Qualifying Periods
Use Government’s online service.
If you think you have lost or mislaid your pension, find help to contact The Pension Tracing Service or find pension contact details.Confirm with GMPF Customer Services
Before requesting the form, please ensure our Customer Services team has confirmed that no GMPF record can be found for you.
Complete the Tracing Your Benefits Form
If you still believe you were a GMPF member, complete the Tracing Your Benefits form to provide additional details.
Upload Supporting Evidence on the portal
You’ll be asked to upload evidence showing past GMPF membership, for us to investigate the records.
