Other schemes and pension providers

The Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) is a national pension scheme for people working in local government or for other employers that participate in the scheme.

Greater Manchester Pension Fund (GMPF) administers the LGPS for the Greater Manchester area and the National Probation Service.

Depending on your employer and your role, you may be a member with GMPF, or you may be a member of another public sector pension scheme, for example serving police officers are generally a member of the Police Pension Scheme.

These are some resources that might help you if you are a member in another scheme or unsure where you hold a pension.

We can check if you have a pension with GMPF if you're unsure. Visit our Tracing your benefits page for more information.

If you're not sure where else you may have a pension The Pension Tracing Service holds details of pension schemes, including the LGPS. If you are no longer paying into your pension it can provide a tracing service for you.
